The Tank Factory is the online sales division of Duraplas Industries. Our Duraplas poly tanks are manufactured in Alstonville, NSW, by an Australian family-owned company that has operated under the same founding family since 1984.
Eligible Duraplas New Generation round and Slimline Urban polyethylene rainwater tanks include a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty:
The Duraplas 10 + 10 warranty
- Years 1–10: repair or replacement at the manufacturer’s discretion, subject to the warranty conditions.
- Years 11–20: repair or replacement calculated on a pro-rata basis, subject to the warranty conditions.
- The same 20-year structure applies to eligible round and slimline rainwater tanks.
The important difference is that the Duraplas warranty is not reduced by an age-based pro-rata calculation during the initial ten-year period.
Why the warranty structure matters
A long headline warranty does not always provide the same level of protection. Some water-tank warranties operate on a pro-rata basis from the original purchase date. Under that type of warranty, the manufacturer’s contribution towards repair or replacement can reduce as the tank gets older.
With an eligible Duraplas round or slimline rainwater tank, the pro-rata period does not begin until after the initial ten-year repair-or-replace period.

Why the slimline warranty is an important comparison
Customers should not assume that a manufacturer’s longest advertised warranty also applies to its slimline tanks. Some manufacturers publish a shorter warranty for slimline models than for their round tanks.
Duraplas provides the same 20-year 10 + 10 warranty structure for eligible Slimline Urban and New Generation round rainwater tanks. This gives customers who need a narrow tank for a side passage or restricted space the same warranty period available on the applicable Duraplas round range.

Protecting your Duraplas water tank warranty
The warranty is subject to the full warranty conditions and correct installation and use. Important installation requirements include:
- A level, stable and uniformly compacted base supporting the full footprint of the tank.
- A retained 75–100 mm layer of fine crusher dust, or a suitable level reinforced concrete slab.
- A flexible coupling fitted directly after the tank outlet so rigid plumbing does not apply strain to the outlet or tank wall.
- Overflow water plumbed away from the tank and its base to prevent erosion.
- The original invoice retained as proof of purchase.

Is the Duraplas 20-year warranty pro-rata from the first year?
No. For eligible Duraplas round and slimline rainwater tanks, the initial ten-year period provides repair or replacement at Duraplas’s discretion, subject to the warranty conditions. The pro-rata period applies during years 11–20.
Do Duraplas slimline tanks receive the same warranty as round tanks?
Yes. Eligible Duraplas Slimline Urban and New Generation round polyethylene rainwater tanks receive the same 20-year 10 + 10 warranty structure.
What does a 10 + 10 water tank warranty mean?
It means an initial ten-year repair-or-replace period followed by a further ten-year period in which the repair or replacement cost is calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Is the Duraplas warranty transferable?
No. The Duraplas warranty document states that the warranty is not transferable and that the original invoice must be retained as proof of purchase.
Does the manufacturer’s warranty replace Australian Consumer Law rights?
