Aquaculture tank prices at The Water Tank Factory start at $550. That’s for the 200-litre AP200. Prices run to $2,850 for the 5,000-litre AP5000. We price the largest model, the 10,000-litre AP10000, on application.
The right size depends on your production stage. Hatchery, nursery, grow-out and holding each need different things from a tank. Here’s how the range breaks down, size by size.
The Aquaculture Tank Range at a Glance
Duraplas Industries manufactures every model in Alstonville, Northern Rivers NSW. Each tank has a tapered base. Every tank also comes with a floor outlet elbow — 50, 80 or 100mm, depending on the model — to suit pressure pipe installation.
AP200 — Hatchery and Small-Scale Starts
The AP200 is the entry point in the range, priced at $550–$875. It’s a 200-litre tank with a 10° tapered base, built for hatchery work. Hatchery tanks need fine control over a small volume more than raw capacity.
The AP200’s compact 820mm diameter fits easily into a hatchery shed alongside multiple units. Its tapered floor and 50mm outlet keep cleaning and drainage simple — a real advantage when you’re turning tanks over between batches.
You can add an optional base if you need the tank raised for gravity drainage or easier access underneath.
AP1000 — Mid-Scale Nursery and Hobbyist Grow-Out
The AP1000 sits at $1,495 for 1,000 litres — a step up in capacity and robustness. It has a 5° tapered base. You can choose a 50, 80 or 100mm outlet elbow, depending on your plumbing.
This model suits nursery-stage operations moving juveniles on from a hatchery tank. It also suits hobbyist and small-scale grow-out setups that have outgrown a 200-litre start but don’t need commercial volume yet.
The AP1000 comes in a range of colours, complete with its poly support base.
AP2500 — Small Recirculating Systems
The AP2500 costs $2,250 for 2,500 litres. It suits small recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) or nursery setups that need more buffer capacity than the AP1000 offers.
The AP2500 shares the same 5° tapered-base design and outlet elbow choice as the AP1000, just with more volume. That makes it a practical middle step for operations scaling up gradually, rather than committing to commercial capacity from day one.
AP5000 — Commercial Grow-Out
The AP5000 costs $2,850 for 5,000 litres. We class it as a true grow-out tank — the stage where fish spend most of their time before harvest.
It stacks for efficient transport, which matters if you’re ordering multiple units for a commercial site. The AP5000 also carries the same outlet and colour flexibility as the smaller models.
Running several grow-out tanks side by side? The AP5000’s stackability simplifies freight too. Raise this with our team if you’re ordering in volume.
AP10000 — Large-Scale Grow-Out and Holding
The AP10000 is the largest standard model. It holds 10,000 litres in a 3,700mm diameter footprint, with a 7.5° tapered base.
We price it on application rather than listing it outright. Call our team for an accurate quote based on your outlet configuration and delivery location.
One thing worth flagging: it only comes in Regal Blue, unlike the colour flexibility across the smaller models. Factor that into your site planning if colour matching matters.
This model suits a grow-out, holding or purging role — the last stage before harvest, or a buffer tank for a larger recirculating system.
Beyond Tank Size: Modular Raceway Systems for Scaling Commercial Operations
Outgrowing standalone tanks altogether? Consider our modular poly raceway system.
The standard PR6900 raceway measures 2,130mm wide x 900mm high x 6,900mm long. It prices at approximately $1,110 per metre complete. A stainless-steel paddle wheel kit costs $6,385 inc GST.
We also offer custom lengths from 4m to 25m on application, at a similar guide price of around $1,000 per metre.
Raceways stack efficiently for transport — an entire unit fits inside a 20-foot shipping container. That makes them a practical option for remote or island sites, where freight logistics would otherwise rule out large fixed tanks.
Matching Tank Size to Your Stocking Plan
Tank size is only half the sizing decision. How many fish a tank can carry depends on stocking density and species too. We’ve covered both in detail elsewhere. Our aquaculture and aquaponics guide sets out general stocking density guidelines. The guide to fish varieties for compact systems breaks down recommended fish quantity by tank size for smaller setups.
Check both guides before you finalise which model to order.
Getting Your Order Right the First Time
Every model ships with a choice of outlet configuration. Confirm your plumbing plan first — pressure pipe size, pump placement, drainage — so the elbow fitting matches your setup from delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions: Aquaculture Tank Prices Australia
How much does an aquaculture tank cost in Australia?
Our range starts at $550–$875 for the 200-litre AP200. It runs to $2,850 for the 5,000-litre AP5000. We price the largest model, the 10,000-litre AP10000, on application — contact our team for an accurate quote.
What’s the difference between the AP2500 and AP5000?
Both share the same 5° tapered-base design and outlet options. The AP5000 holds twice the volume — 5,000L versus 2,500L — and we class it as a commercial grow-out tank. The AP2500 suits smaller recirculating systems or nursery-stage operations.
Why is the AP10000 priced on application instead of listed?
Larger commercial orders involve site-specific factors — delivery location, outlet configuration, and order volume. These all affect final pricing. That’s why we quote the AP10000 individually, rather than listing a fixed price.
How much does a modular raceway system cost compared to standard tanks?
Our standard PR6900 raceway prices at approximately $1,110 per metre complete. We also offer custom lengths from 4–25m on application, at a similar guide price. This suits larger commercial operations scaling beyond standalone tanks.
